Surfing is Dead

PANDA BEAR "Surfer's Hymn" from m ss ng p eces on Vimeo.

A very strange tribute to surfers taken by the sea. For some reason I really like this? I know, so weird.

Jersey Boys

Last night I got to see Jersey Boys on Broadway! The music was amazing and I am now obsessed with the Four Seasons. I also was surprised that they toured with The Angels! Everyone should go see it asap.

"The story dramatizes the forming, rise and eventual break-up of the original four members of The Four Seasons. The musical is separated into four sections, with each section narrated by a different member of the band: Spring (Tommy DeVito), Summer (Bob Gaudio), Fall (Nick Massi) and Winter (Frankie Valli); each member has a different perspective on the band and their contribution to it." -Wikipedia

Submarine

Photobucket

Based on a novel by Joe Dunthorne - a coming-of-age story humorously narrated by 15-year-old Oliver Tate (Craig Roberts). 34-year old Ayoade (pronounced AY-oh-aw-day) dismisses the notion that his movie is a new perspective on the coming-of-age story, saying the characters in the film are interesting but the genre can’t be reinvented.

Really enjoyed Lady Gaga's CFDA award speech when she won “Fashion Icon”. She often talks about living in NYC before she was famous, and I find her craziness entertaining and sometime admirable. Go gagaaaa

"This exhibition examines the work of three remarkable craftsmen from this heritage—John D'Angelico, James D'Aquisto, and John Monteleone—their place in the extended context of Italian and Italian American instrument making, and the inspiration of the sights and sounds of New York City." Exhibited at the Met until July 4th!

On Saturday I had an amazing, early dinner at Diablo Royale on West 10th Street. The food was authentic and the atmosphere was eclectic. My favorite part of the decor was the antler chandelier.. definitely going to go back soon!

On Saturday I had the opportunity to check out the Howl Arts Festival in the Lower East Side with my family, and it was insane! The whole park was wrapped in canvas which was sectioned off to several artists. Art, music, food, and perfect summer weather. Check out the finished work at Tompkins Square Park!

"HOWL! Arts showcases the rich artistic diversity of the East Village. Inspired by the late poet–philosopher Allen Ginsberg – a lifelong spokesperson for peace, justice, and freedom of expression – HOWL! Arts Inc. the umbrella for all things HOWL!, exemplifies the uninhibited, spirited, iconoclastic, and irreverent embrace of poet Allen Ginsberg's artistic invention. HOWL! Arts claims this legacy – as home to 'the best minds' of successive generations – to inspire and galvanize new artists and audiences." -howlfestival.com
